The apocrypha book called “Joseph and Aseneth” provides details regarding Joseph meeting
his wife Aseneth of Heliopolis. It also
provides information about the early Hebrew culture. The details this apocrypha book provides are
in agreement with our bible. The English
word ‘apocrypha’ comes from the Greek word ‘ἀπόκρυφος (apókruphos)
which means “hidden or obscure”. The
fuller definition of the Greek word ἀπόκρῠφος (apókruphos) is hidden, concealed, or secret.
Aseneth’s Father Pentephres was the Priest & Governor of Heliopolis
The book of Joseph and Aseneth opens by telling us that
Aseneth was the daughter of Pentephres who was the governor and priest of
Heliopolis. Aseneth was like the Hebrews and as fair as Rachel. It also states that Heliopolis was a district
in the land of Egypt.
“It came to pass in the first year of the seven years of plenty, in the
second month [approx. April or May], that Pharaoh sent out Joseph to go round
the whole land of Egypt. And Joseph came, in the fourth month of the first
year, on the eighteenth day of the month [a Sabbath day, approx. July 7th],
into the district
of Heliopolis. And he was collecting all the corn of that land, as
the sand of the sea. Now there was in that city a man, a satrap [governor] of Pharaoh; and
this man was the chief of all Pharaoh's satraps and lords. And he was very
rich, and wise, and generous, and he was Pharaoh's counsellor, and his name was
Pentephres;
and he was the priest
of Heliopolis (of On) And Pentephres had
a virgin daughter of about eighteen years of age, tall and beautiful and
graceful, more beautiful than any other virgin in the land. And she was quite unlike the daughters of the
Egyptians, but in every respect like the daughters of the Hebrews. And she was
as tall as Sarah, and as beautiful as Rebecca, and as fair [beautiful, unblemished, light pale skin tones, & can also refer to
blonde hair] as Rachel;
and this virgin's name was Aseneth.
And the fame of her beauty spread through all that land, even to its
remotest corners; and all the sons of the lords and of the satraps and of the
kings sought her hand in marriage, young men all of them.” Joseph & Aseneth (J&S) 1:1-9
Chapter three of the book of Joseph and Aseneth tells us
that Joseph went to Pentephres house to have lunch. I point this out since the 18th
day of the four month is always a Sabbath day.
“And it came to pass in the fourth month, on the eighteenth day of the
month, that Joseph came into the district of Heliopolis. And as he approached
the city, Joseph sent twelve men in front of him to Pentephres, the priest of
Heliopolis, saying, May I be your guest to-day, for it is near noon and time
for a mid-day meal? The sun's heat is overpowering, and I would enjoy some
refreshment under your roof.” J&S 3:1-3
First century historian Josephus wrote this regarding Joseph
and Aseneth:
“Joseph was now grown up to thirty years of age, and enjoyed great
honors from the king, who called him Psothom Phanech, out of regard to his
prodigious degree of wisdom; for that name denotes the revealer of secrets. He
also married a
wife of very high quality; for he married the daughter of Petephres, one of the
priests of Heliopolis; she was a virgin, and her name was As enath. (92)
By her he had children before the scarcity came on; Manasseh, the elder, which
signifies forgetful, because his present happiness made him forget his former
misfortunes; and Ephraim, the younger, which signifies restored, because he was
restored to the freedom of his forefathers”
Antiquities 2.6.1:91-92
Dr. Wesley Swift, documented on page 17 of his book called “Standards
of Israel” that Aseneth was a Sethite; meaning a descendant of Seth son
of Adam:
“They were the two sons who were born of the Princess Asenath, who was the daughter of
Potipherah, high priest of the Temple of On, a White priesthood since the time of
Enoch and Job - and Israel they
were, because God had told Enoch that these people were Israel. So God
recognized the union of the Sethite house with
the house of Joseph through Abraham, and the two sons, Ephraim and Manasseh,
were White men of the purest line; and this is proved by the fact that Jacob
the grandfather placed his hands upon Ephraim and Manasseh, and he said,
"Let my name be named on these two lads; let Israel, the name Israel, pass
on these two lads." And he said, concerning these things, one of them was
to be a great nation, and the other was to be a company of nations. This was a
part of their destiny.”
Heliopolis
Heliopolis is the Greek word for the place where Aseneth
lived in Egypt. Depending on the version
and book of the bible you are reading the place called Heliopolis is also
called the following:
·
Baethsamys
·
House of the Sun
·
Bethshemesh
·
City of the Sun
·
Bethsame
Here is an example from the book of Jeremiah:
“And he shall break to pieces the pillars of Heliopolis [two words; helios meaning sun & polis meaning city, community or
fortification] that are in On, and shall burn their houses with
fire.” Septuagint Jer 50:13
“And he shall break the statues of the house of the sun, that are in
the land of Egypt; and the temples of the gods of Egypt he shall burn with fire.”
Douay Rheims Jer 43:13
“et conteret statuas domus[house or home] Solis [sun] quae sunt in terra
Aegypti et delubra deorum Aegypti conburet igni” Latin Vulgate Jer 43:13
“He shall break also the images of Bethshemesh [house
of the sun or sun temple], that is in the land of Egypt; and the
houses of the gods of the Egyptians shall he burn with fire.” KJV Jer 43:13
Historian Josephus states that Jacob and his family were to
live in Heliopolis which must have been a district within Egypt where Goshen
was located:
“When Jacob was come to the king, and saluted him, and wished all
prosperity to his government, Pharaoh asked him how old he now was: upon whose
answer, that he was an hundred and thirty years old, he admired Jacob on
account of the length of his life. And when he had added, that still he had not
lived so long as his forefathers, he gave him leave to live with his children
in Heliopolis;
for in that city the king's shepherds had their pasturage.” Antiquities
2.7.6:187-188
When the Israelites received their land inheritance in
Joshua, Judah (below), Naphtali (Jos 19:34) and Issachar (Jos 19:22) all
received a place called ‘city of sun’ or ‘Beth-Shemesh’; therefore there were
three places with that name in our bibles.
It is a city mentioned on the border of Judah’s land inheritance:
“And the
border will go round from Baal to the sea, and will go on to the mount of Assar
behind the city of Jarin northwards; this is Chaslon: and it will come down to
the city of
Sun, and will go on to the south.” Sep Jos 15:10
“And it compasseth from Baala westward unto mount Seir: and passeth by
the side of mount Jarim to the north into Cheslon: and goeth down into Bethsames,
and passeth into Thamna.” DR Jos 15:10
“And
the border compassed from Baalah westward unto mount Seir, and passed along
unto the side of mount Jearim, which is Chesalon, on the north side, and went
down to Bethshemesh,
and passed on to Timnah.” KJV Jos 15:10
Judah also received in his land inheritance Goshen also
called Gosom that was in Egypt:
“and Gosom,
and Chalu, and Channa, and Gelom: eleven cities, and their villages;” Sep
Jos 15:51
“And Goshen,
and Holon, and Giloh; eleven cities with their villages.” KJV Jos 15:51
Part of Egypt was given to Judah as inheritance; therefore
this may be why when Jerusalem fell, Egypt later ruled Judea. It was during the time that Egypt ruled the
Judeans that the
bible was translated to Greek (see timeline on that page).
The first century historian Josephus states a temple was
built in Heliopolis that was just like the temple in Jerusalem:
“Now as to Onias, the son of the high priest, who, as we before informed
you, was left a child when his father died, when he saw that the king had slain
his uncle Menelaus, and give the high priesthood to Alcimus, who was not of the
high priest stock, but was induced by Lysias to translate that dignity from his
family to another house, he fled to Ptolemy, king of Egypt; (388) and when he
found he was in great esteem with him, and with his wife Cleopatra, he desired
and obtained a place in the Nomus of Heliopolis, wherein he built a temple like to that at
Jerusalem” Antiquities
12.9.6:387-388
“for
Cleopatra the queen was at variance with her son Ptolemy, who was called
Lathyrus, and appointed for her generals, Chelcias and Ananias, the sons of that
Onias who built the temple in the prefecture of Heliopolis, like that at
Jerusalem, as we have elsewhere related.” Antiquities 13.10.3
There were several obelisks in Heliopolis which Constantine
moved when he moved the capital of Rome (see
this page for more information and sources).
City of Refuge
The book of Joseph and Aseneth explains that is was our
Father in Heaven’s will that Aseneth marry Joseph. Aseneth’s place of residence was to become a
‘city of refuge’ where many would find shelter and safety. Is current day Egypt in Africa fulfilling
this prophecy???? I believe that is a
description of America where the other Egypt is located (see
more info here).
“So she took it off her head; and the man said to her, "Take heart,
Aseneth, for lo, the Lord has heard the words of your confession. Take heart,
Aseneth, your name is written in the book of life, and it will never be blotted
out. From to-day you will be made new, and refashioned, and given new life; and
you shall eat the bread of life and drink the cup of immortality, and be
anointed with the unction of incorruption. Take heart, Aseneth: lo, the Lord has given you to Joseph
to be his bride, and he shall be your bridegroom. And you shall no
more be called Aseneth, but 'City of Refuge' shall be your name; for many
nations shall take refuge in you, and under your wings shall many peoples find
shelter, and within your walls those who give their allegiance to God in
penitence will find security.” J&A 15:2-6
When Judah received ‘the city of the sun’ also known as
Baethsamys it was given to the Levites to be a city of refuge:
“And the
tribe of the children of Juda, and
the tribe of the children of Symeon, and part of the tribe of the children of
Benjamin gave these cities, and they were assigned to the sons of Aaron of the
family of Caath of the sons of Levi, for the lot fell to these. And they gave
to them Cariatharboc the metropolis of the sons of Enac; this is Chebron in the
mountain country of Juda, and the suburbs round it. But the lands of the city,
and its villages Joshua gave to the sons of Chaleb the son of Jephonne for a
possession. And to
the sons of Aaron he gave the city of refuge for the slayer, Chebron,
and the suburbs belonging to it; and Lemna and the suburbs belonging to it; and
Ælom and its suburbs; and Tema and its suburbs; and Gella and its suburbs; and
Dabir and its suburbs; and Asa and its suburbs; and Tany and its suburbs; and Baethsamys
and its suburbs: nine cities from these two tribes.” Jos 21:9-15
This may be why Jeremiah took the king’s daughters to Egypt;
Jeremiah considered it to be a place of refuge and safety:
“But Johanan the son of Caree, and all the captains of the soldiers took
all the remnant of Juda, that were returned out of all nations, to which they
had before been scattered, to dwell in the land of Juda: Men, and women, and
children, and the
king's daughters [Tephi and other sisters], and every soul, which
Nabuzardan the general had left with Godolias the son of Ahicam the son of
Saphan, and Jeremias
the prophet, and Baruch the son of Nerias. And they went Into the land of Egypt,
for they obeyed not the voice of the Lord: and they came as far as Taphnis.” DR Jer 43:5-7
The book
of Tephi does document that Jeremiah brought Tephi and her sisters to Egypt. Tephi was king Zedekiah’s daughter. After their arrival to Egypt, Jeremiah
brought Tephi to Ireland to be queen.
This is partly where the stories come from stating that the
Ireland’s queens came from Egypt. (See
this page for more information)
There are several scriptures that state Joseph’s son Ephraim
would go to Egypt to live.
“Ephraim
dwelt in Egypt; and as for the
Assyrian, he was his king, because he would not return. And in his
cities he prevailed not with the sword, and he ceased to war with his hands:
and they shall eat of the fruit of their own devices: and his people shall
cleave fondly to their habitation; but God shall be angry with his precious
things, and shall not at all exalt him. How shall I deal with thee, Ephraim? how shall I protect thee, Israel? what shall I do
with thee? I will make thee as Adama, and as Seboim; my heart is turned at once,
my repentance is powerfully excited. I will not act according to the fury of my
wrath, I
will not abandon Ephraim to be utterly destroyed: for I am God, and
not man; the Holy One within thee: and I will not enter into the city. I will
go after the Lord: he shall utter his voice as a lion: for he shall roar, and
the children of the waters shall be amazed. They shall be amazed and fly as a
bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of the Assyrians: and I will restore
them to their houses, saith the Lord. Ephraim has compassed me with
falsehood, and the house of Israel and Juda with ungodliness: but now God knows
them, and they
shall be called God's holy people.” Sep Hos 11:5-12
Egypt next to Assyria
Egypt was located next to Assyria; therefore was probably in
land given to Noah’s son Shem. Aseneth
was probably a descendant of Shem just like Joseph was. Ishmael went to live in the area and the
verse below states he lived with his brethren which would have been descendants
of Shem.
“And these are the years of the life of Ismael, a hundred and
thirty-seven years; and he failed and died, and was added to his fathers. And he
dwelt from Evilat to Sur, which is opposite Egypt, until one comes to the Assyrians;
he dwelt in the presence of all his brethren.” Sep Gen 25:18
“In that day there shall be five cities in the land of Egypt, speaking the
language of Chanaan, and swearing by the Lord of hosts: one shall be called the city of the
sun. In that day there shall be an altar of the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt,
and a monument of the Lord at the borders thereof: It shall be for a
sign, and for a testimony to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. For they
shall cry to the Lord because of the oppressor, and he shall send them a
Saviour and a defender to deliver them. And the Lord shall be known by Egypt,
and the Egyptians shall know the Lord in that day, and shall worship him with
sacrifices and offerings: and they shall make vows to the Lord, and per- form
them. And the Lord shall strike Egypt with a scourge, and shall heal it, and
they shall return to the Lord, and he shall be pacified towards them, and heal
them. In that day there shall be a way from Egypt to the Assyrians, and the Assyrian shall
enter into Egypt, and the Egyptian to the Assyrians, and the
Egyptians shall serve the Assyrian. In that day shall Israel be the third to
the Egyptian and the Assyrian: a blessing in the midst of the land, Which the
Lord of hosts hath blessed, saying: Blessed be my people of Egypt, and the work of
my hands to the Assyrian: but Israel is my inheritance.” DR Isa 19:18-25
This page reflects several more verses showing that Ephraim
will dwell in Egypt. This is
prophecy that Ephraim would be king of the city of refuge. This page also shows biblical proof that
Egypt was located next to Assyria on the Euphrates river.
Joseph the ‘Savior of the World’
The first time that Aseneth is mentioned in our bibles is in
Genesis chapter 41. The Pharaoh (supreme ruler) of
Egypt made Joseph second in command of Egypt and gave him Aseneth as a
wife. The Douay-Rheims bible, published
in 1609 from the Latin Vulgate version of 386 AD, tells us that the actual
title the Pharaoh gave to Joseph meant the ‘Savior of the World’.
“And Pharao said to Joseph, Since God has shewed thee all these things,
there is not a wiser or more prudent man than thou. Thou shalt be over my house, and all my
people shall be obedient to thy word; only in the throne will I excel thee. And Pharao said to Joseph, Behold, I set thee
this day over all the land of Egypt. And
Pharao took his ring off his hand, and put it on the hand of Joseph, and put on
him a robe of fine linen, and put a necklace of gold about his neck. And he mounted him on the second of his
chariots, and a herald made proclamation before him; and he set him over all
the land of Egypt. And Pharao said to
Joseph, I am Pharao; without thee no one shall lift up his hand on all the land
of Egypt. And Pharao called the name of Joseph, Psonthomphanech; and he gave him Aseneth,
the daughter
of Petephres, priest of Heliopolis, to wife.” Sep Gen 41:39-45
“And
he turned his name, and called him in the Eyyptian tounge, The saviour of the world. And he
gave him to wife Asenth the daughter of Putiphare priest of Heliopolis. Then Joseph
went out to the land of Egypt.” DR Gen 41:45
“vertitque nomen illius et vocavit eum lingua aegyptiaca Salvatorem [savior] mundi dedit quoque illi uxorem Aseneth filiam
Putiphare
sacerdotis Heliopoleos
egressus itaque Ioseph ad terram Aegypti”
LV 386 AD Gen 41:45
“And Pharaoh called Joseph's name Zaphnathpaaneah {"the god speaks and he lives"];
and he gave him to wife Asenath the daughter of Potipherah priest of On. And
Joseph went out over all the land of Egypt.” KJV Gen 41:45 [showing 750
AD block Hebrew definition]
Joseph’s Apparel
The book of Joseph and Aseneth gives us further details
regarding Joseph’s apparel which reflects that he was considered royalty of
Egypt. Genesis 41:42 above states that the Pharaoh of Egypt gave Joseph a robe
of linen and below is it further described as being purple linen.
“And Pentephres and his wife and all his relations went out to meet
Joseph. And the gates of the court that looked east were opened, and Joseph
came in, sitting in Pharaoh's viceroy's chariot. And there were four horses
yoked together, white as snow, with golden reins; and the chariot was covered
over with gold. And Joseph was wearing a marvellous white tunic, and the robe
wrapped around him was purple, made of linen woven with gold: there was a
golden crown on his head, and all round the crown
were twelve precious stones, and above the
stones twelve golden rays; and a royal scepter was in his right hand. And he held an olive
branch stretched out, and there was much
fruit on it. And Joseph came into
the court, and the gates were shut. And strangers, whether men or women,
remained outside, because the gate-keepers had shut the doors. And Pentephres came, and his wife, and all
his relatives, except their daughter Aseneth; and they made obeisance to Joseph
with their faces to the ground. And
Joseph got down from his chariot and extended his right
hand to them.” J&A 5:3-11
Joseph’s crown of 12 golden rays is also called a radiant crown, solar crown
or sun crown. The picture below
shows other rulers wearing a radiant crown.
The Alexander and Ptolemy dynasties did reign
over Judea from 336 BC to 187 BC.
Moses’ blessing to the tribe of Joseph also mentions the
crown of Joseph:
“And to Joseph he said, His land is of the blessing of the Lord, of the
seasons of sky and dew, and of the deeps of wells below, and of the fruits of
the changes of the sun in season, and of the produce of the months, from the
top of the ancient mountains, and from the top of the everlasting hills, and of
the fullness of the land in season: and let the things pleasing to him that
dwelt in the bush come on the head of
Joseph, and on the crown of
him who was glorified above his brethren. His beauty is as the firstling of his bull, his
horns are the horns of a unicorn; with them he shall thrust the nations at
once, even from the end of the earth: these are the ten thousands of Ephraim, and
these are the thousands of Manasse.” Sep Deu 33:13-17
Joseph was carrying an olive branch. Joseph’s son Ephraim inherited the symbol of
the olive tree branch which is shown in heraldry in many countries with
Caucasian origins. Bible verses that
talk of the olive tree branch are shown
on this page.
In Europe, since the time that the Roman emperors wore a Tyrian purple (purpura)
toga praetexta, purple has been the color most associated with royalty. The British
Royal Family and other European royalty still use it as a ceremonial color on
special occasions.
Right Hand
As stated above (J&A 5:3-11), Joseph held the scepter in
his right hand and then extended his right hand to greet them (Pentehres and
family). The right hand is a symbol of power
and righteousness. Here are some
examples of the power and righteousness of the ‘right hand’.
“But Israel having stretched out his right hand, laid it on the head
of Ephraim, and he was the younger; and his left hand on the head of Manasse,
guiding his hands crosswise.” Sep Gen 48:14
“Thy right
hand, O God, has been glorified in strength; thy right hand,
O God, has broken the enemies.” Sep Exo 15:6
“Thou stretchedst forth thy right hand, the earth swallowed them up.” Sep
Exo 15:12
“For I will lift up my hand to heaven, and swear by my right hand,
and I will say, I live for ever.” Deu 32:40
“And Joab said to Amessai, Art thou in health, my brother? and the right hand of Joab took hold of the beard of Amessai to kiss
him.” Sep 2Sa 20:9
“Then will I confess that thy right hand can
save thee.” Job 40:9
“According to thy name, O God, so is also thy praise to the ends of the
earth: thy right
hand is full of righteousness.”
Psa 48:10
“A Psalm of David. Sing to the Lord a new song; for the Lord has wrought
wonderful works, his right hand, and his holy arm, have wrought
salvation for him.” Psa 98:1
“Him hath God exalted with his right hand, to be Prince and Saviour, to give
repentance to Israel, and remission of sins.” DR Acts 5:31
“And I saw in the right hand of
him that sat on the throne, a book written within and without, sealed with
seven seals.” DR Rev 5:1
It is doubtful that Joseph would have extended his right
hand out to Pentephres if he was not a descendant of Seth since the book of
Joseph and Aseneth states that Joseph would not even eat with the
Egyptians. Therefore, there must have
been Egyptians also present that were not of pure race or Joseph would only eat
with the royal lines descendant from Noah.
“And Joseph came into Pentephres's house and sat down on a seat; and he
washed his feet, and he placed a table in front of him separately, because he
would not eat with the Egyptians, for this was an abomination to him.” J&A 7:1
In some countries waving ‘hi’, as we do here in America, is considered
offensive. Hand shaking with the
right hand is documented as far back as 500 BC in Athens.
Starting
in 1892 the America flag salute was performed with the ‘right hand’ extended
forward as shown above. This salute
is believed to have come from ancient Rome.
In 1942, congress changed the salute to the right hand over your heart.
Aseneth’s Race Issue
Prior to Joseph’s arrival Pentephres told his daughter
Aseneth that she would be Joseph’s wife.
Aseneth was horrified by this statement coming from her father since she
thought that Joseph was of a deferent race than she was.
“And Pentephres said to her, "See, Joseph, the mighty man of God, is coming to
us to-day, and he is ruler of all the land of Egypt, for Pharaoh has
appointed him ruler of all our land; and he is the distributor of corn throughout
the country and is to save it from the famine that is come upon it. And Joseph
is a man that worships God: he is discriminating, and a virgin (as you are
to-day), and a man of great wisdom and knowledge, and the spirit of God is upon
him, and the grace of the Lord is with him. So come, my child, and I will give you
to him as his wife: you shall be his bride, and he shall be your
bridegroom for ever." And when Aseneth heard what her father said, a great
red sweat came over her, and she was furious and looked sideways at her father.
And she said, "Why should my lord and my father speak like this and talk
as if he would hand
me over like a prisoner to a man of another race, a man who
was a fugitive and was sold as a slave? Is this not the shepherd's son from the
land of Canaan, and he was abandoned by him?” J&A 4:8-13
Biblical law has always been to not marry outside of your
race. Therefore, even though the laws
were not documented by Moses until 430 year later this law has always been in
effect for the children of Noah. Aseneth
was following biblical laws regarding marriage; therefore was a descendant of
Noah.
“For ye shall not worship strange gods, for the Lord God, a jealous
name, is a jealous God; lest at any time thou make a covenant with the dwellers
on the land, and they go a whoring after their gods, and sacrifice to their
gods, and they call thee, and thou shouldest eat of their feasts, and thou shouldest
take of their daughters to thy sons, and thou shouldest give of thy daughters
to their sons; and thy daughters should go a whoring after their
gods, and thy sons should go a whoring after their gods.” Sep Exo 34:14-16
“And when the Lord thy God shall bring thee into the land, into which
thou goest to possess it, and shall remove great nations from before thee, the
Chettite, and Gergesite, and Amorite, and Chananite, and Pherezite, and Evite,
and Jebusite, seven nations more numerous and stronger than you, and the Lord
thy God shall deliver them into thy hands, then thou shalt smite them: thou
shalt utterly destroy them: thou shalt not make a covenant with them, neither
shall ye pity them: neither shall ye contract marriages with them: thou shalt
not give thy daughter to his son, and thou shalt not take his daughter to thy
son. Sep Deu 7:1-3
“And take ye great heed to love the Lord our God. For if ye shall turn
aside and attach yourselves to these nations that are left with you, and make marriages
with them, and become mingled with them and they with you, know that
the Lord will no more destroy these nations from before you; and they will be to
you snares and stumbling-blocks,
and nails in your heels, and darts in your eyes, until ye be destroyed from off
this good land, which the Lord your God has given you.” Sep Jos
23:11-13
After Aseneth actually meets Joseph she had a change of
heart and mind. She realized that Joseph
was of the same race and she agrees to marry Joseph.
“And Aseneth said to him, "Come, my lord, come into my house;"
and she took his right hand and brought
him inside her house. And Joseph sat down on her father Pentephres's seat, and
she brought water to wash his feet; and Joseph said to her, "Let one of
your virgins come, and let her wash my feet." And Aseneth said to him, "No, my lord,
for my hands are your hands, and your feet my feet, and no one else shall wash
your feet;" and so she had
her way and washed his feet. And Joseph took her by the right hand and kissed it, and Aseneth kissed his head. And
Aseneth's parents came back from their country estate, and they saw Aseneth sitting
with Joseph and wearing a wedding robe; and they rejoiced and
glorified God, and they ate and drank. And Pentephres said to Joseph,
"To-morrow I will invite the lords and satraps of Egypt, and I will
celebrate your wedding, and you shall take Aseneth as your wife." And
Joseph said, "First I must tell Pharaoh about Aseneth, because he is my
father; and he will give me Aseneth as my wife himself." And Joseph stayed
that day with Pentephres; and he did not sleep with Aseneth, for he said,
"It is not right for a man who worships God to have intercourse with his
wife before their marriage."
J&A 20:1-8
Joseph & Aseneth’s Sons
Joseph and Aseneth have two sons named Ephraim and
Manassah.
“And to Joseph were born two sons, before the seven years of famine
came, which Aseneth,
the daughter of Petephres,
priest of Heliopolis, bore to him.” Sep Gen 41:50
“And
unto Joseph were born two sons before the years of famine came, which Asenath the
daughter of Potipherah
priest of On bare unto him.”
KJV Gen 41:50
Jacob gives Ephraim and Manassah the blessing as documented
in Genesis 28. Jacob would not have done this if Joseph’s children were not
pure descendants of Noah.
Aseneth
Below is a picture painted of Aseneth in c. 1400 AD wearing
a crown. The picture was used as an illustration
for these verses:
“And behold, the sons of Leah came,
running like deers in pursuit of them; and Aseneth got down from her chariot,
and she greeted them with tears. And they made obeisance to her on the ground
and wept aloud; and they asked about their brothers, the maidservants' sons,
intending to kill them. And Aseneth said to them, "Spare you brothers and
do them no harm, for the Lord has shielded me and reduced the swords in their
hands to dust, and they melted away like wax before the fire. Surely this is
enough for us that the Lord is fighting for us: so spare your brothers."
And Simeon said to Aseneth, "Why should our mistress plead for her
enemies? No! We will cut them down with our swords, because they have plotted
evil against our father Israel and against our brother Joseph now on two
occasions, and they have plotted against you to-day." And
Aseneth said to him, "No brother, you must not repay evil for evil to your
neighbor, for the Lord will avenge this outrage." J&A 28:8-14
This is further proof that our ancestors did know the story
of Joseph and Aseneth.
Conclusion
The apocrypha books are an important source of information
for anyone wanting to study true Israelite history and culture. Books were hidden for various reasons and
they should be considered scripture.
The story of Joseph and Aseneth shows the good Christian
morals that were in place at the time of their meeting.
Based on the old pictures above our ancestors always thought
that Joseph, Aseneth and their children were of white origin. King
Tut of Egypt was also white since his yDNA is R1b1 which is the most
popular Caucasian male yDNA of Europe and white America.
