In this study I have documented the life of Enoch from
many different sources and have found evidence that Enoch was not removed from
the earth at age 365. As you will find
in the evidence below that Enoch continued to live many years after age 365 and
that he probably died at age 905. It appears that our Father in Heaven thought that Enoch should be moved to a new location at age 365. This study lead me to
look at the bible timeline further to identify how these events could have
happened and when. Plus our bibles tell
us that Enoch had a testimony that was pleasing to our Father in Heaven and I
did want to learn more about Enoch’s testimony.
Below I have documented the following:

Overview of Enoch’s Life Events & Timeline
Here is an overview of Enoch’s life events that I have
grouped according to the timeframe when the event would have occurred. The table below reflects the timeline from
Adam to the flood and Noah as stated in the book of Genesis using the Greek
Septuagint (translated 285BC), Douay Rheims (from the 382 AD Latin Vulgate),
King James version (from the Masoretic 750 AD text) and the Ethiopic version of
the Book of Jasher. The Latin Vulgate and Masoretic text were translated from
the same source document; therefore they should agree and do agree regarding
this information.
The timelines on this page are all according to Anno Mundi
(AM) which is supposedly Latin
for "in the year of the world".
The day Adam was formed is day one in these Anno Mundi (AM) bible
timelines; as opposed to day one in Genesis chapter one when the earth was
created.

Definitions of the word Translate
The word translated is translated from the Greek word ‘metatithemi’.
“And
Enoch was well-pleasing
to God, and was not found,
because God translated
[G3346 metatithēmi; to transfer to another
place, to change] him.” Sep Gen 5:24
This Greek word ‘metatithemi’ was also used in the New
Testament in these verses:
“For
there are certain men crept in privily, even they who were of old written of
beforehand unto this condemnation, ungodly men, turning [G3346
metatithemi; I transfer, desert, change] the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying our only Master
and Lord, Jesus Christ.” ASV Jude 1:4
“For
the priesthood being changed [G3346
metatithemi; I transfer, desert, change], there is made of necessity a change also of the law.” KJV Heb 7:12
Therefore where the word translated is used in regards to
Enoch means a change in location. Just
as when a document is translated from one language to another, translated means
a change of language.
Genesis – Enoch was Pleasing to God & Translated
The Old Testament account in Genesis only tells us that
Enoch was pleasing to God and walked in HIS ways and then Enoch was not found
since God translated him or took him.
Notice it does not state where Enoch was translated to.
“and
Jared lived after his begetting Enoch, eight hundred years, and he begot sons
and daughters. And all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty and two
years, and he died. And Enoch lived an hundred and sixty and five years, and
begat Mathusala. And Enoch was well-pleasing to God after his begetting Mathusala, two hundred years,
and he begot sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were three hundred
and sixty and five years. And Enoch was well-pleasing to God, and was not found, because God translated [G3346 metatithēmi; to transfer to another place, to change] him.”
Sep Gen 5:19-24
“And
Jared lived after he begot Henoch, eight hundred years, and begot sons and
daughters. And all the days of Jared were nine hundred and sixty-two years, and
he died. And Henoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Mathusala. And Henoch walked
with God: and lived after he begot Mathusala, three hundred years,
and begot sons and daughters. And all the days of Henoch were three hundred and
sixty-five years. And he walked with God, and was seen no more: because God
took him.” DR Gen
5:19-24
Hebrews – Enoch Translated to Avoid Death
In the New Testament letter to the Hebrews we find that
Enoch had a testimony that pleased God prior to his translation. More importantly we find Enoch was translated
so that he would not die.
“By
faith Henoch
was translated, that he should not see death; and he was not found,
because God had translated him: for before his translation he had testimony
that he pleased God.” DR Heb 11:5
“By
faith Enoch
was translated that he should not see death; and was not found,
because God had translated him: for before his translation he had this
testimony, that he pleased God.” KJV Heb 11:5
Well I’m sure that Enoch died several thousands of years ago
though. Therefore his death was not avoided – so what does this mean? Here is a few options that I thought of this
could mean:
1.
To avoid Enoch’s death in the flood that was
coming; however, this is probably not true since the bible timeline shows Enoch
died before the flood.
2.
To avoid Enoch having to endure a physical death
and go directly to heaven; however, there is proof that Enoch continued to live
after his translation.
3.
To avoid Enoch’s seed all being killed in the
upcoming flood. We do know his seed was
saved through Noah and continued on.
However, it may be possible that more of Enoch’s seed was saved and
avoided death due to the flood. I will
explain this further below.
4.
To avoid Enoch being killed by the defiled
fallen angels and the daughters of man they corrupted; this is likely since
Enoch had the testimony to execute their judgment of condemnation which is the
second death in the ‘lake of fire’.
Enoch publically stated their evil ways and their future condemnation.
Jude – Enoch had the Testimony to Execute Judgment
If you read the entire short book of Jude, you will find
that Jude is concerned that the Israelites are not remembering certain facts
and he is calling these facts to their attention. Jude states that men of the ‘old’ times were
condemned and they deny Christ and then Jude talks of the angels that left
their own habitation. The ‘old’ is a
reference to old world prior to the flood when Enoch condemned them.
“For
there are certain
men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation,
ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the
only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ. I will therefore put you in remembrance, though ye once knew this, how that
the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed
them that believed not. And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left
their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness
unto the judgment of the great day.” Jude 1:5-6
Jude makes it clear that he is referring to these angels who
defile the flesh.
“Yet
in like manner these also in their dreamings defile the flesh, and set at
nought dominion, and rail at dignities.” ASV Jude 1:8
Jude then makes it clear that he is referring to Enoch’s
testimony that these angels that defile the flesh and commit ungodly sin will
have judgement executed against them when Jesus returns. Jude is quoting from the book of Enoch here.
“And
Enoch also, the seventh from Adam, prophesied of these, saying, Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints,
To execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly
among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of
all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” KJV
Jude 1:14-15
“And
behold!
He cometh
with ten thousands of His holy ones To execute judgement upon all,
And to destroy all the ungodly: And to convict all flesh Of all the works of
their ungodliness which they have ungodly committed, And of all the hard things
which ungodly sinners have spoken against Him.” Enoch 1:9
The gospel of 2nd Peter also of talks of ‘bringing to our remembrance’ these
angels that sinned and were reserved into judgement; therefore they will be
judged later.
“For
if God
spared not angels when they sinned, but cast them down to hell [G5020
tartaroó; I thrust down to Tartarus or Gehenna], and committed them to pits of darkness,
to be reserved
unto judgment; and spared not the ancient world, but preserved
Noah with seven others, a preacher of righteousness, when he brought a flood
upon the world of the ungodly; and turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah
into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, having made them an example unto those
that should live ungodly.” ASV 2 Pet 2:4-6
The words hell and hades are translated from three different
words in the original text. 2 Peter
above and Mathew below are both referring to the valley of Gehenna where these
angels who sinned will be condemned to a second death which is when their soul
and body will be destroyed forever. Depending on the bible version you are using
Gehenna is the sometimes translated as a place called Hinnon or Ennom. The bible states in the Old Testament that
Gehenna (Hinnon or Ennom) was on the border of Judah and Benjamin’s and that
the Rephaim (old race of giants)
lived nearby (Joshua 15:8 & 18:16).
“And
be not afraid of them that kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul:
but rather fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell [G1067
geenna; Hebrew term, Gêhinnōm, "the valley of Hinnom") – Gehenna, a
valley near Jerusalem (also referred to as the "lake of fire" in
Revelation).].” ASV Mat 10:28
To learn more about the different words used for hell and
Hades; please see this video since he does a pretty good job at explaining the
differences.
2 Esdra – Enoch has Authority
According to 2 Esdra, Enoch will be one of the ones given
authority.
“Now,
Father, look with pride and see the people coming from the east. I will give
them authority, together with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, Elijah and Enoch,
Zechariah and Hosea, Amos, Joel, Micah, Obadiah, Zephaniah, Nahum, Jonah,
Malachi, Habakkuk, and twelve angels carrying flowers.” Common English
Bible, Apocrypha Only 2 Esdra 1:38-40
Sirach – Enoch was Translated to Paradise & Remnant Saved
Here in Sirach it is stated that Enoch was translated or was
transferred and that Enoch was an example of repentance meaning had a change of
heart.
“Enoch
pleased the Lord, and was translated, being an example of repentance to
all generations.” Sep Sir 44:16
“Enoch
pleased the Lord and was transferred, an example of a changed heart and
mind for generations.” Common English Bible, Apocrypha Only Sir 44:16
This verse states that Enoch was translated to paradise so
there would be a remnant of Enoch’s seed left on the earth after the flood.
“Henoch
pleased God, and was translated into paradise, that he may give
repentance to the nations. Noe was found perfect, just, and in the time of
wrath he was made a reconciliation. Therefore was there a remnant left to the earth, when the
flood came.” DR Sir
44:16-18
This verse states that Enoch was taken from the earth which
might really mean he was taken from the land.
The word earth can be a proper noun meaning the planet we live on;
however, the word earth
can also mean soil, ground or land.
Therefore, anywhere in the bible where the word earth is use it might
just be a reference to the soil or land. Maybe Enoch was taken to higher
ground.
“But
upon the earth was no man created like Enoch; for he was taken from the earth [land?].” Sep Sir 49:14
“No
man was born upon earth like Henoch: for he also was taken up from the earth[land?].” DR Sir 49:16
Josephus – Enoch Disappeared
Most people living then probably did not know where Enoch
was after his translation since he was to be hidden. Probably only the good and godly people like
Methusalah and Noah who went to seek him actually found him and they may have
been directed to him by the Holy Spirit.
“Now
at this time it was that Elijah disappeared from among men, and no one knows of
his death to this very day; but he left behind him his disciple Elisha, as we
have formerly declared. And indeed, as to Elijah, and as to Enoch, who was before the Deluge, it is
written in the sacred books that they
disappeared; but so that nobody knew that they died.” The Writings of
Flavius Josephus, Antiquities 9.2.1:28
Book of Enoch – Enoch was with the Holy Ones in the West
Enoch was moved to the west to serve as king and be with the
holy angels.
“Before
these things Enoch
was hidden, and no one of the children of men knew where he was
hidden, and where he abode, and what had become of him. And his activities had
to do with the Watchers, and his days were with the holy ones. And I Enoch
was blessing the Lord of majesty and the King of the ages.” Enoch 12:1-3
“And
after those days in that place where I had seen all the visions of that which
is hidden -for I
had been carried off in a whirlwind and they had borne me towards the west-There mine eyes saw all the secret things of
heaven that shall be, a mountain of iron, and a mountain of copper, and a
mountain of silver, and a mountain of gold, and a mountain of soft metal, and a
mountain of lead. And I asked the angel who went with me, saying, 'What things
are these which I have seen in secret' And he said unto me: 'All these things
which thou hast seen shall serve the dominion of His Anointed that he may be
potent and mighty on the earth.'”
Enoch 52:1-4
Enoch was translated at age 365; therefore he saw this
parable or vision after his translation.
The actual date of seeing this vision was the day before the Feast of
Tabernacles starts; therefore this makes me wonder if one of the earthquakes in
Revelation will happen the day before or at the start of the Feast of Tabernacles
to give us warning of the start of this prophecy. It may be one of the seven trumpets or vials. In this vision he sees God sitting on HIS
throne in Mount Zion which many believe
in at Mount Zion in Utah.
“In the year
500, in the seventh month, on the fourteenth day of the month in the life of
Enoch In that Parable I saw how a
mighty quaking made the heaven of heavens to quake, and the host of the Most
High, and the angels, a thousand thousands and ten thousand times ten thousand,
were disquieted with a great disquiet. And the Head of Days sat on the throne of His glory,
and the angels and the righteous stood around Him.” Enoch, a Fragment of
the Book of Noah, 60:1-2
Lamech went to talk to Enoch regarding Noah’s birth. This event happened after Enoch’s translation
since Noah was born after Enoch’s translation.
Plus it states that Enoch is dwelling with the angels.
“And
after some days my son Methuselah took a wife for his son Lamech, and she
became pregnant by him and bore a son. And his body was white as snow and red
as the blooming of a rose, and the hair of his head and his long locks were
white as wool, and his eyes beautiful. And when he opened his eyes, he lighted
up the whole house like the sun, and the whole house was very bright. And thereupon he arose in
the hands of the midwife, opened his mouth, and conversed with the Lord of
righteousness. And his father Lamech was afraid of him and fled, and came to
his father Methuselah. And he said unto him: ' I have begotten a strange son,
diverse from and unlike man, and resembling the sons of the God of heaven; and
his nature is different and he is not like us, and his eyes are as the rays of
the sun, and his countenance is glorious. And it seems to me that he is not
sprung from me but from the angels, and I fear that in his days a wonder may be
wrought on the earth. And now, my father, I am here to petition thee and
implore thee that thou mayest go to Enoch, our father, and learn from him
the truth, for
his dwelling-place is amongst the angels.' And when Methuselah heard
the words of his son, he came to me to the ends of the earth [land?]; for he had heard that I was there, and he cried
aloud, and I heard his voice and I came to him. And I said unto him: ' Behold,
here am I, my son, wherefore hast thou come to me ' And he answered and said: '
Because of a great cause of anxiety have I come to thee, and because of a
disturbing vision have I approached.” Enoch 106:1-10
Noah was born after Enoch was translated; therefore Noah
went looking for Enoch outside of the land where he had been living.
“And
in those
days Noah saw the earth that it
had sunk down and its destruction was nigh. And he arose from thence and went
to the ends of the earth [land], and
cried aloud to his grandfather Enoch: and Noah said three times with an
embittered voice: Hear me, hear me, hear me.' And I said unto him: ' Tell me
what it is that is falling out on the earth that the earth is in such evil
plight and shaken, lest perchance I shall perish with it ' And thereupon there
was a great commotion , on the earth, and a voice was heard from heaven, and I
fell on my face. And Enoch my grandfather came and stood by me, and said unto me:
' Why hast thou cried unto me with a bitter cry and weeping And a command has
gone forth from the presence of the Lord concerning those who dwell on the
earth that their ruin is accomplished because they have learnt all the secrets
of the angels.” Enoch 65:1-6
The Enoch verses above were quoted from (Ethiopic Apocalypse
of Enoch) of the Old Testament R.H. Charles Oxford http://wesley.nnu.edu/sermons-essays-books/noncanonical-literature/noncanonical-literature-ot-pseudepigrapha/book-of-enoch/
Dead Sea Scrolls – Enoch was at Parwain
The surviving pieces of the Dead Sea Scrolls do reflect that
Methuselah does go visit Enoch in regards to Noah’s birth. So this is another
witness that Enoch was living in a place that Methuselah could go visit him
after he was translated.
“Then
I, Lamech, ran to Methuselah my father, and [I told] him all these things. [And
I asked him to go to Enoch] his
father for he would surely learn all things from him. For he was beloved, and
he shared the lot [of the angels], who taught him all things. And when
Methuselah heard [my words... he went to] Enoch his father to
learn all things truthfully from him ... his will He went at once to Parwain and he found him there... [and] he said to Enoch
his father, ‘O my father, O my lord, to whom I... And I say to you, lest you be
angry with me because I come here...” The Genesis Apocryphon (IQapGen,
IQ20) p. 536
The fact that Enoch was living in Parwain is very
interesting since there is a Parowan in Utah.
I will give more information about Parowan below.
The Dead Sea Scroll verse above is quoted from this book ‘The
Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English’
Book of Jubilees – Enoch Testified Against the Defiled Fallen Angels
The book of Enoch is the first witness that states how Enoch
documented how time is reckoned and the book of Jubilees is a second witness to
the fact that Enoch documented the signs of heaven which included how the
knowledge of how time was to be reckoned. Plus the Dead Sea Scrolls are a third
witness to Enoch’s calendar since the Israelites were using Enoch’s calendar as
their Temple Calendar for feast day scheduling (Source: ‘The
Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English’).
Most important though here in Jubilees it states very
clearly that Enoch documented his testimony against the Watchers, who are also
called the fallen angels, who had sinned and defiled themselves. Enoch’s
testimony was the condemnation of these defiled fallen angels.
“And
in the eleventh jubilee Jared took to himself a wife, and her name was Baraka,
the daughter of Rasujal, a daughter of his father's brother, in the fourth week
of this jubilee, and she bare him a son in the fifth week, in the fourth year
of the jubilee, and he called his name Enoch. And he was the first among men
that are born on earth who learnt writing and knowledge and wisdom and who wrote down
the signs of heaven according to the order of their months in a book, that men
might know the seasons of the years according to the order of their separate
months. And he was the first to write a testimony and he testified to the
sons of men among the generations
of the earth, and recounted the weeks of the jubilees, and made known to them
the days of the years, and set in order the months and recounted the Sabbaths
of the years as we made (them), known to him. And what was and what will be he
saw in a vision of his sleep, as it will
happen to the children of men throughout their generations until the day of
judgment; he saw and understood everything, and wrote his testimony, and placed the testimony
on earth for all the children of men and for their generations. And
in the twelfth jubilee, in the seventh week thereof, he took to himself a wife,
and her name was Edna, the daughter of Danel, the daughter of his father's
brother, and in the sixth year in this week she bare him a son and he called
his name Methuselah. And he was moreover with the angels of God these six
jubilees of years, and they showed him everything which is on earth and in the
heavens, the rule of the sun, and he wrote down everything. And he testified to the Watchers, who had
sinned with the daughters of men; for these had begun to unite themselves, so as to be defiled, with the daughters of men,
and Enoch
testified against (them) all. And he was taken from amongst the children of
men, and we conducted him into the Garden of Eden in majesty and
honour, and behold there he writes down the condemnation and judgment of the world,
and all the wickedness of the children of men. And on account of it (God)
brought the waters of the flood upon all the land of Eden; for there he was set
as a sign and that he should testify against all the children of men, that he
should recount all the deeds of the generations until the day of condemnation.” Jubilees 4:16-25
Book of Jasher – A Remnant Followed Enoch & he died at age 905
The book of Jasher gives more details than the other books
about Enoch’s life and explains that he was king in the land of Shinar prior to
his translation.
“And the spirit
of God was upon Enoch, and he taught all his men the wisdom of God
and his ways, and the sons of men served the Lord all the days of Enoch, and
they came to hear his wisdom. And all
the kings of the sons of men, both first and last, together with their princes
and judges, came to Enoch when they heard of his wisdom, and they bowed down to
him, and they also required of Enoch to reign over them, to which he consented.
And they assembled in all, one hundred and thirty kings and princes, and they
made Enoch king over them and they were all under his power and comman. And
Enoch taught them wisdom, knowledge, and the ways of the Lord; and he made
peace amongst them, and peace was throughout the earth during the life of
Enoch. And Enoch reigned over the sons of men two
hundred and forty-three years, and he did justice and righteousness with all
his people, and he led them in the ways of the Lord.
And
these are the generations of Enoch, Methuselah, Elisha, and Elimelech, three
sons; and their sisters were Melca and Nahmah, and Methuselah lived
eighty-seven years and he begat Lamech.
And it was in the fifty-sixth year of the life of Lamech when Adam died; nine
hundred and thirty years old was he at his death, and his two sons, with Enoch
and Methuselah his son, buried him with great pomp, as at the burial of kings,
in the cave which God had told him. And in that place all the sons of men made a
great mourning and weeping on account of Adam; it has therefore become a custom
among the sons of men to this day. And
Adam died because he ate of the tree of knowledge; he and his children after
him, as the Lord God had spoken.
These verses are very interesting since they give us insight
on what was taking place before Enoch was translated. It appears that Enoch keeps separating
himself more and more from the people he is king over. As Enoch learned the truth of what was to
happen it was probably hard for him knowing that many of his people would be
drowned in the flood. Also since many
were siding with evil, he probably wanted to distance himself from this evil.
“And
it was in the year of Adam's death which was the two hundred and forty-third
year of the reign of Enoch, in that time Enoch resolved to separate himself from the sons of men and to secret himself as at first in order to
serve the Lord. And Enoch did so, but
did not entirely secret himself from them, but kept away from the sons of men
three days and then went to them for one day.
And during the three days that he was in his chamber, he prayed to, and
praised the Lord his God, and the day on which he went and appeared to his
subjects he taught them the ways of the Lord, and all they asked him about the
Lord he told them. And he did in this
manner for many years, and he afterward concealed himself for six days, and
appeared to his people one day in seven; and after that once in a month, and
then once in a year, until all the kings, princes and sons of men sought for
him, and desired again to see the face of Enoch, and to hear his word; but they
could not, as all the sons of men were greatly afraid of Enoch, and they feared
to approach him on account of the Godlike awe that was seated upon his
countenance; therefore no man could look at him, fearing he might be punished
and die. And all the kings and princes
resolved to assemble the sons of men, and to come to Enoch, thinking that they
might all speak to him at the time when he should come forth amongst them, and
they did so. And the day came when Enoch went forth and they all assembled and
came to him, and Enoch spoke to them the words of the Lord and he taught them
wisdom and knowledge, and they bowed down before him and they said, May the king
live! May the king live! “
An angel came and stated Enoch would go up to heaven; maybe
this is a reference to just a high place to live to avoid the flood and a place
where the holy angels were located on earth. It appears a remnant did go with Enoch to his
new residence.
And
in some time after, when the kings and princes and the sons of men were
speaking to Enoch, and Enoch was teaching them the ways of God, behold an angel
of the Lord then called unto Enoch from heaven, and wished to bring him up to
heaven to make him reign there over the sons of God, as he had reigned over the
sons of men upon earth. When
at that time Enoch heard this he went and assembled all the inhabitants of the
earth, and taught them wisdom and knowledge and gave them divine instructions,
and he said to them, I have been required to ascend into heaven, I therefore do
not know the day of my going. And now therefore I will teach you wisdom and
knowledge and will give you instruction before I leave you, how to act upon
earth whereby you may live; and he did so. And he taught them wisdom and
knowledge, and gave them instruction, and he reproved them, and he placed
before them statutes and judgments to do upon earth, and he made peace amongst
them, and he taught them everlasting life, and dwelt with them some time
teaching them all these things.
And
at that time the sons of men were with Enoch, and Enoch was speaking to them,
and they lifted up their eyes and the likeness of a great horse descended from
heaven, and the horse paced in the air; And they told Enoch what they had seen,
and Enoch said to them, On my account does this horse descend upon earth; the
time is come when I must go from you and I shall no more be seen by you. And
the horse descended at that time and stood before Enoch, and all the sons of
men that were with Enoch saw him. And Enoch then again ordered a voice to be
proclaimed, saying, Where is the man who delighteth to know the ways of the
Lord his God, let him come this day to Enoch before he is taken from us. And all the sons of men assembled and came to
Enoch that day; and all the kings of the earth with their princes and
counsellors remained with him that day; and Enoch then taught the sons of men
wisdom and knowledge, and gave them divine instruction; and he bade them serve
the Lord and walk in his ways all the days of their lives, and he continued to
make peace amongst them. And it was after this that he rose up and rode upon
the horse; and he went forth and all the sons of men went after him, about
eight hundred thousand men; and they went with him one day's journey. And the
second day he said to them, Return home to your tents, why will you go? perhaps
you may die; and some of them went from him, and those that remained went with him six day's
journey; and Enoch said to them
every day, Return to your tents, lest you may die; but they were not willing to
return, and they went with him. And on the sixth day some of the men remained
and clung to him, and they said to him, We will go with thee to the place where
thou goest; as the Lord liveth, death only shall separate us. And they urged so
much to go with him, that he ceased speaking to them; and they went after him
and would not return; And when the kings returned they caused a census to be taken,
in order to know the number of remaining men that went with Enoch;
and it was upon the seventh day that Enoch ascended into heaven in a whirlwind,
with horses and chariots of fire. And on the eighth day all the kings that had
been with Enoch sent to bring back the number of men that were with Enoch, in
that place from which he ascended into heaven. And all those kings went to the
place and they found the earth there filled with snow, and upon the snow were
large stones of snow, and one said to the other, Come, let us break through the
snow and see, perhaps
the men that remained with Enoch are dead, and are now under the
stones of snow, and they searched but could not find him, for he had ascended
into heaven.” Jasher 3:8-38
“And all the
days that Enoch lived upon earth, were three hundred and sixty-five years.
And when Enoch had ascended into heaven, all the kings of the earth rose and
took Methuselah his son and anointed him, and they caused him to reign over
them in the place of his father.” Jasher 4:1-2
Here it states that Enoch died at age 905:
“And
it was in the eighty-fourth year of the life of Noah, that Enoch the son of Seth died, he was nine hundred and five years old at his death.”
Jasher 5:1
Newspapers
Below is what I was able to find in the old newspapers about Enoch.
1837 news – Walking with God
1897 news – The Secret Vault
It is said that Enoch made a pillar that he inscribed a lot
of knowledge on it and the pillar is mentioned in this article.
1905 news – ‘The Mystery of Enoch’
This is an interesting sermon that show Enoch was at Adam’s
funeral plus it gives other interesting insight on what was going on in the
land of Shinar at the time Enoch was translated. I am unable able to find the source of this
sermon though.
Below is only part of the article, the full
article starts in column 1 https://chroniclingamerica.loc.gov/lccn/sn87065195/1905-02-17/ed-1/seq-2.pdf
1913 news – Sermon on Enoch
According to this sermon on Enoch, after the birth of
Methusalah, Enoch changed or repented.
He named his son Methuselah since it means ‘when
he is dead the flood will come’.
The flood did come after Methuselah’s death and using the
Latin/Masoretic bible timeline the flood came the same year that Methusalah
died.
Pre-Flood Genealogy & Bible Timeline
Reflected below is the pre-flood genealogy that is reflected
in 1 Chronicles. Enoch was the seventh
person mentioned; therefore the seventh generation.
“Adam, Seth, Enos, and Cainan, Maleleel, Jared, Enoch, Mathusala, Lamech, Noe: the sons of Noe, Sem, Cham, Japheth.”
Sep 1Chron 1:1-4
“Adam,
Seth, Enos, Cainan, Malaleel, Jared, Henoc,
Mathusale, Lamech, Noe, Sem, Cham, and Japheth.” DR 1 Chron 1:1-4
“Adam
Seth Enos Cainan Malelehel Iared Enoch
Matusale Lamech Noe Sem Ham et Iafeth” LV 1 Chron 1:1-4
“Adam,
Sheth, Enosh, Kenan, Mahalaleel, Jered, Henoch,
Methuselah, Lamech, Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth.” KJV 1 Chron 1:1-4
The table below reflects the timeline from Adam to the flood
and Noah as stated in the book of Genesis using the Greek Septuagint (translated 285BC), Douay
Rheims (from the 382 AD Latin Vulgate),
King James version (from
the Masoretic 750 AD text) and the Ethiopic version of the Book of Jasher. The
Latin Vulgate and Masoretic text were translated from the same source document;
therefore they should agree and do agree regarding this information. I have indicated in red where disagreements
occur with these different translations. There is consistent disagreement
regarding the age that their sons was born between the three ancient texts.
Greek Septuagint Bible Timeline
According to the Greek Septuagint,
Enoch was not alive when Adam died therefore he could not have attended Adam’s
funeral. Methusalah dies 16 years prior to the flood. Several of the source document accounts of
Enoch’s life could not have happened if this timeline is used as the pre-flood
timeline. Mathusalah and Noah could have
gone to visit Enoch and this is based on the fact that the book of
Jasher states that Enoch lived until age 905.
The book of Jasher is the only place I could locate a death year for
Enoch.
Douay Rheims Latin & KJV Masoretic text Bible Timeline
If you use this timeline the events as stated in Enoch’s
life could have actually happened. Enoch
could have been at Adam’s funeral plus Methusalah and Noah could have gone to
visit Enoch. Plus Mathusala dies the
same year of the flood just as one of the sources above stated. This is also
based on the fact that the book of Jasher states that Enoch lived until age
905.
Codex 830 & Irish Book of Ballymote Bible Timelines
The outcome of the study of Enoch’s life events and their
timeline makes it necessary to study the bible timeline further and possibly
research more what is being said in the old Irish book called ‘‘The
Codex Palatino-Vaticanus, No 830’.
Here are a couple of examples fore this book.
I
found this information in this book ‘The Codex Palatino-Vaticanus, No 830’ from
the Royal Irish Academy Todd Lecture Series dated 1892. I was looking for a translation of the Irish
book of Ballymote (complied in 1390 AD) when I found this book and Ballymote is
one of the book included. This Codex
Palatino-Vaticanus contains information from a variety of sources; some in
Latin and some in Irish. This book should they were trying to also figure out
the bible timeline issues and they discuss the issues they found. This book also discusses the solar and lunar
calendar which I will address in the next section. You can download a pdf of
this book here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1KruuscNeL1mQ4lRBwASlO6bXmEdMQTt6/view?usp=sharing
Enoch’s Calendar
Proof that the ancients used the calendar documented in the
Book of Enoch which agrees with the calendar in the Book of Jubilees is
overwhelming once you start researching ancient calendars and learn how they
worked. Plus the Dead Sea Scrolls Temple
calendar works as the Book of Enoch describes.
Today we still reference the sun’s position on the Tropic of
Cancer and Tropic of Capricorn which are imaginary lines on earth. The sun reaches the Tropic of Cancer in the
Northern Hemisphere on the Summer Solstice and back when this position was
named the sun would be in the constellation of Cancer when this occurred. The same is true with the Tropic of Capricorn;
when the sun reaches the Tropic of Capricorn it was in the constellation of
Capricorn. Since the constellation move
though this is no longer true; if they were named today they would be called
the Tropic of Aries for Summer Solstice and Libra for the Winter Solstice. This
proves these tropical lines were named about 4000 years ago when Enoch was
still living. To read more about this, please
see this article.
The Celtic people and the Mayans also used the Enoch
calendar and had the knowledge of the star and constellation positions. The Celtic cross was a tool to measure star
positions and their relative positions regarding time. Plus the Celts used a
364 day calendar that included the positions of the sun in the constellations (see
here for more info).
The Mayans built pyramids that were aligned to the sun. They also built an observatory to monitor the
movements of the sun and Venus. The
Mayan Madrid
Codex shows a 91 day in each season just as Enoch described in the book of
Enoch. Their knowledge of astronomy was very advanced. (See here
and here and here
for more on the Mayans)
Other people such as the Egyptians had this advanced
knowledge also. This advanced knowledge
that the Celts, Mayans and Egyptians had must have originated from
somewhere. I believe it all came from
Enoch’s teachings and that the Celts, Mayans and Egyptians were all descendant from
or were related to Enoch. I believe all
this information came from Enoch’s teachings that he learned from the Holy
Angel Uriel (See
this article on the Hebrew Pyramid builders.)
“And
from thence I went to the ends of the earth and saw there great beasts, and
each differed from the other; and (I saw) birds also differing in appearance
and beauty and voice, the one differing from the other. And to the east of
those beasts I saw the ends of the earth whereon the heaven rests, and the
portals of the heaven open. And I saw how the stars of heaven come forth, and I
counted the portals out of which they proceed, and wrote down all their
outlets, of each individual star by itself, according to their number and their
names, their courses and their positions, and their times and their months, as Uriel the holy angel who was with me
showed me. He showed all things to me and wrote them down for me:
also their names he wrote for me, and their laws and their companies.”
Enoch 33
Parowan Gap
According to the Dead Sea Scrolls, Enoch was living in
Parwain and there is a place called Parowan in Utah. I actually went to visit the city of Parowan
and the Parowan Gap two years ago. The
city of Parowan is located in Iron County and is 6017 feet
above sea level. This whole area is
on a very high mountain and Enoch also made reference above to an Iron Mountain
(Enoch 52). Parowan is a 19 minute drive to the city called 'Enoch' and is an almost
two hours north of from Mount Zion.
Mount elevation
varies since the northern part is higher than the southern part. The soil in this whole area is red due to the oxidation of the
iron in the soil.
I went to visit the Parowan Gap since I heard it had amazing
Petroglyphs and it they were amazing. It
did look to me they were documenting the travel of the sun in this glyph.
I took this picture of the sign below that explains a
possible meaning of the petroglyph above.
So this is evidence that there were people living in Parowan
with advanced knowledge of solar time keeping as described in the book of
Enoch.

Conclusion
There is lots of evidence of Enoch’s life events and the use
of his calendar. I only touched on a
couple of examples above that the ancients used Enoch’s solar calendar and knew
about the other planets; there is lots more evidence if you are looking for
them.
The evidence of Enoch’s life events came from many different
sources that were documented in different languages that are all in agreement
that Enoch continued to live after age 365.
The only real disagreement is in regards to the age that the pre-flood
patriarchs had their sons which affect the bible timeline. The timing of the events does effect whether
you believe the events happened as stated and it will affect which bible
timeline you think is the real one.
I do believe these apocrypha books were hidden to keep the proof
of Enoch’s testimony regarding the condemnation of the fallen angels hidden
from us. It appears that Enoch’s testimony regarding the condemnation of the fallen
angels started being hidden from the Israelites prior to the life of Jesus
since both Jude and Peter talk about bringing these teachings to our ‘remembrance’ (2 Peter 1:12, 1:13, 1:15
& 3:1 and Jude 1:5). Jesus said that
the Holy Spirit does bring teachings to our ‘remembrance’ (John 14:26). In
Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians he states there would be a falling away
before Jesus returns and these people will be revealed.
“Now
we beseech you, brethren, touching the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and our
gathering together unto him; to the end that ye be not quickly shaken from your
mind, nor yet be troubled, either by spirit, or by word, or by epistle as from
us, as that the day of the Lord is just at hand; let no man beguile you in any
wise: for it will not be, except the falling away come first, and the man of sin be
revealed, the son of perdition, he that opposeth and exalteth
himself against all that is called God or that is worshipped; so that he
sitteth in the temple of God, setting himself forth as God. Remember ye not, that, when I was yet
with you, I told you these things? And now ye know that which restraineth, to
the end that he may be revealed in his own season. For the mystery of lawlessness doth already work: only there is one that
restraineth now, until he be taken out of the way. And then shall be revealed
the lawless one, whom the Lord Jesus shall slay with the breath of his mouth,
and bring to nought by the manifestation of his coming; even he, whose coming
is according to the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying
wonders, and with all deceit of unrighteousness for them that perish; because
they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” ASV 2
Thes 2:1-10
The Churches have fallen away from the truth since they teach
that all will be saved and they do not teach Enoch’s testimony about the
condemnation of these fallen angels. The
book of Enoch starts out by telling us that it was written for a remote
generation to come. I believe that the
Elect (chosen) of our Father in Heaven are being lead to learn about the
condemnation of these fallen angels and Enoch’s testimony.
“The
words of the blessing of Enoch, wherewith he blessed the elect and righteous, who will be living in the day of tribulation, when all the
wicked and godless are to be removed. And he took up his parable and said
-Enoch a righteous man, whose eyes were opened by God, saw the vision of the
Holy One in the heavens, which the angels showed me, and from them I heard
everything, and from them I understood as I saw, but not for this generation, but for a remote
one which is for to come.” Enoch 1:1-3
We are living in a time where it is dangerous to speak
against these fallen angels and it appears that Enoch might have also been in
danger for publicly speaking out against them and documenting their
condemnation and judgement. To learn more about the fallen angels, please see this
link.
