Below is just part of the
speech that Mr. Calhoun gave to congress about his protest against allowing
Mexicans into the United States and he says that the union never dreamt of
incorporating any other races. He makes
it clear that there are different races of Indians in his speech. Many of today’s Cherokees are mixed race and are not
the real Cherokee Indians of the past.
There are probably many Caucasians today that do not realize that they
are part Cherokee since the real Cherokee left the reservations years ago.
